Task: Reflect on your past experience of managing student behavior. It may be prior teaching experience, parenting, or supervising students another activity.

3. It is a common belief that "these kids are worse than they were 20 years ago". Read the following research article by Drs. Barry Crooms and Gary Moore to see what they found.

Task: If you know a teacher with over 20 years of experience, talk with them about how student behavior has changed during their teaching career.  What have been the major changes?

4. Talking about managing student behavior is one thing. Observing it, and reacting is another. Watch the following video clips.

Assignments

1. Setting classroom rules and procedures is very important. Your assignment is to create a set of classroom rules, a set of classroom procedures, and a set of consequences for breaking these rules and procedures. Email these to the instructor as an attachment. (Consult the PowerPoint presentation for reference)

2. For each of the video clips that you viewed above, send the instructor an email containing an explanation of how you would respond to the situation.

3. Read the following 15 case studies. Select 5 and write a 1/2 page response for each as to how you would react. Send your responses to the instructor as an attachment to an email.

4. Email the completed study guide to the instructor.
